Socceroos star Jackson Irvine has left ABC host Tony Armstrong in stitches after making an off the cuff remark, all while forgetting he was being broadcast live.
After Australia secured a historic victory against Denmark to book their spot in the Round of 16, Irvine appeared on ABC to discuss the moment.

But it was when Armstrong asked him what he would be getting up to after the victory and if he would be celebrating that Irvine slipped up.
The midfielder, echoing the sentiment instilled in the camp by coach Graham Arnold that the team wouldn’t be celebrating, insisted he’d be going about his usual post-game methods.
Unfortunately it was one remark that left him red-faced and left Armstrong and those in the studio in hysterics.
“At the moment there won’t be much enjoying going on, I’ll be going straight down to start my recovery,” Irvine said before Armstrong interjected with “ice baths?”.
Irvine then hilariously quipped: “Yeah literally, just freeze my balls off for a bit, that’s the way to enjoy it.
“No just full focus on the next one, there’ll be a time to reflect … sorry I forgot I am live as well!
“There’ll be time to enjoy it at the end of the tournament but we’ll just focus on the next one.”
As Armstrong struggled to contain his laughter, Irvine put his hand over his head in embarrassment before stating: “I need one now, I’m sweating.”
Arnold revealed the reward he’ll allow his players for Australia’s best result at a World Cup – and it’s not much.
After England beat Wales 3-0 to top Group B, manager Gareth Southgate said he’d allow his players a milkshake as a treat.
But Arnold was having none of it.
When asked what he’d allow his players, he held up a bottle of water.
“Bottle of water,” he joked.
“We’re in a fantastic facility – Aspire – where we can’t get out anyway.”
After the Tunisia win, Arnold got the players in a circle and told them they’d achieved nothing and there was still one more game.
Unsurprisingly the message was exactly the same before a potential meeting with Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
“I said exactly the same, because I truly believe it,” he said.
Arnold suggested Japan and Saudi Arabia over-celebrating after upset wins against Germany and Argentina respectively may have been why they lost their next game.
“You look at Japan, you look at Saudi and look at underdogs. They achieve something and get a great result, they’re celebrating and they’re very emotional,” he said.
“And again, I hate saying this, but they go on social media until 4-5 in the morning, reading all these comments and pats on the back.
“I’ve been around long enough; the most important thing is recovery, (good) sleep and making sure you’re ready for the next game.”
