Jennifer Coolidge who won an Emmy playing lovable doofus Tanya in seasons one and two of the popular show has responded to THAT finale.

As we know, Tanya was the body found by Daphne (Meghann Fahy) floating in the ocean during the opening episode of season two.

But the way that Tanya went out was très magnifique. . .

Tanya literally goes out in a blaze of glory, gunning down a group of gay men — one of them a trained mafia killer — who had been organised to murder her for her money.

Before sadly, Tanya trips, falls, hits her head and drowns to the operatic strains of Puccini.

Coolidge spoke to Vanity Fair after the show’s premiere, sharing her reaction to Tanya’s death, and well, she wasn’t happy about it.

White Lotus creator Mike White told her fan favourite Tanya was going to die before they began filming.

“He goes, ‘and Jennifer?’ I go, ‘Yeah?’ And he goes, ‘and you’re gonna die.’ Oh, no! I was like, ‘No! Mike! Mike, why?’” Coolidge told Vanity Fair.

“I was kind of bummed.”

Coolidge tried to talk White out of it but he was “very strong”.

“He said I was going to have a tragic ending, and he stuck to his guns,” she said.

Coolidge also revealed that she improvised the iconic line: “These gays are trying to murder me.”

Which honestly, was some much-needed levity during the dramatic ending.

Just to recap:

Tanya McQuoid-Hunt (Jennifer Coolidge)

The only season one character to return for season two dies in the finale and was revealed as the body in the water in episode one.

But before her death she figures out that her horrible husband Greg (Jon Gries at his slimy best) has teamed up with “the gays” namely Quentin (a brilliant Tom Hollander) to kill her. This is so Greg can inherit all her money according to her prenup.

However, before her death she manages to find duct tape, rope and a gun in the mobster’s bag and shoot everyone on the boat.

She spies a dinghy over the side and makes the stupid decision to climb over the side.

In the process she whacks her head and drowns, before she washes up to the shore. The other bodies mentioned in the premier are “the gays” and the mobster hired to kill her..

Mia (Beatrice Granno) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco)

The sex workers got their’s.

Mia gets a full-time job as pianist at the hotel and Lucia finally gets paid, including the money to pay off the blokes who were trying to kill her.

In the closing scene, it’s revealed that those guys were actually friends of hers.

Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), Albie (Adam DiMarco)

Jack tells Portia what’s happening with Tanya and tells her to get the h*ll out of dodge, which she does.

At the airport, she runs into Albie who realised that Lucia played him and the clueless pair swap numbers.

Harper (Aubrey Plaza), Ethan (Will Sharpe), Cameron (Theo James) and Daphne (Meghann Fahy)

Harper tells Ethan that she did hook up with Cameron (she swears it was just a kiss, but have you seen Theo James?).

It’s then alluded that Ethan and Daphne (Camerson’s wife) hook up on a secluded island to get even.

They foursome have a terribly awkward dinner and Daphne and Cameron propose another trip next year!

Harper and Ethan obviously decide to bury the hatchet and they finally end up… well knocking boots.
